After watching the RIP! A Remix Manifesto I couldn’t help but to feel uneasy. I was somewhat aware of the copyright debate in terms of music downloading but had no idea the severity of it. What shocked me the most was the pattens that exist on information in the medical science field. This means that there is potentially information that could change medicine entirely out there and the public will never have access to it. In cases such as these, it would be an understatement to say that copyright has been taken too far. I understand that privatization of information and ideas are a way of making money, but at what cost? It is my opinion that the well being of humanity should always come before profit. Unfortunately, our individualistic western culture says otherwise.
In regards to educational resources, I believe that they should all be open for public access without copyright restrictions. As an educator, I would never want some students to receive a better education over others. Why then would some resources be out of reach? All students should have access to an equal education and the teachers who create these resources should do so with the students as their priority. The priority should not be to profit from the selling of these resources. If a teacher has entered into this profession with the intentions prospering finically, then they are in it for the wrong reasons. Eduction is for the students, for the community, and for humanity; educational resources should be shared publicly for teachers to be able to provide the best education to their students. After all, we are all a part of the same world and with the same goal: to better our future!

I found a comprehensive and interactive resource on climate change from this website for elementary student: https://www.oercommons.org/courseware/lesson/17626/overview. This is just one example of the many resources the website has to offer! Teachers helping teacher is what I love to see!
